The Rose and the Amaranth
An Amaranth, that was growing beside a rose, said one day:
"How beautiful you are Rose, I wish I were like you!" You are shaped perfectly and you give such a nice smell. "Oh Amaranth," the rose replied, "I only live for a few days and even if nobody picks me, I still wither and die. You on the other hand, are always in bloom and you live forever!" Even today, the Amaranth is not sure whether it is better or worse off than the Rose. Is it better to live for a long time, or to be beautiful and glorious and live briefly?
