The Pyramids of Giza are the most famous things to see in Egypt.
These pyramids lie on the west bank of the Nile River. Most of them serve
as royal Tombs for Kings and Queens. A man named Imhotep built the first
ever step pyramid which gave the idea for pyramids such as the ones in
Giza.

Pictures such as this one to the left can be seen in Egypt all
around. They are pictures of ancient Queens and guardians. Hieroglyphics,
their earliest form of communication is also seen. It is still used now-a-days
by some people. Some books like The Book of the Dead has these hieroglyphics
along with prayers, spells, and hymns. Now, languages such as Arabic (there
official language), English, French, and Berber are spoken a lot.

Giza is another city in Egypt where there is a lot of tourist attractions.
It also has the sphinx. The Sphinx, is actually a monster. It has the head
of a woman, the body of a lion, and the wings of a bird. It would stand
at the entrance of Thebes and whoever wanted to enter would have to answer
her riddle. If they did not answer her riddle correctly, they would die.
Finally, a man named Oedipus came and he answered riddle correctly and
she immediately killed herself. To see the
riddle, click here.

This is the picture of the Ancient City of Thebes. The Nile as
seen to the right runs through it. At one period in time, Thebes was the
capital of Egypt. It is covered completely with temples, tombs, and monuments.
One main attraction it has is the great Luxor. It is a great monument.
The City of Thebes has a great background full of pharaohs and Kings. It
came a long way, and has been rebuilt a couple times too!
