Suddenly we heard the strangest noises coming from nowhere! It was raining cats and dogs outside. There were huge flashes of lightning and loud bangs of thunder. It was exactly 8:56 p.m. and I was spending the night at my friend Emily’s house. We had gone to the library earlier and brought a book full of scary stories, which we thought we should tell each other now because it was the perfect setting for it. Emily had just finished her story about a girl who was babysitting her baby brother and there was a loud knocking noise. When she opened the door there was a huge, horrifying, creature ready to eat her! Just before I could start telling my story all the power went out. 
   “Oh great, what are we going to do Katie?” Emily asked me. “How about getting a flashlight or candle?” I said. “Great idea!” Emily exclaimed. “But I don’t think I can make my way without tripping over something.” I suggested that we stay in one place until the power comes back on. Just then we heard a loud crash!
